AA10 lytic polysaccharide monooxygenases (LPMOs) mainly exist in bacteria. They have great application potential in industrial biomass conversion because of the ability in degrading crystalline polysaccharides such as cellulose and chitin and thus have attracted wide attention. However, the substrates, oxidation sites, and oxidation products vary among different AA10 LPMOs, and the influence mechanism of the structure and composition of LPMOs on the substrate selectivity remains to be explored. This paper introduced the modular structure, catalytic mechanism, and substrate spectrum of AA10 LPMOs. Further, we reviewed the research progress in the effects of structure, critical functional residues, and module combination of AA10 LPMOs on substrate selectivity. On this basis, we put forward the application prospects of LPMOs in biomass conversion and biofuel industry.
