Klebsiella pneumoniae is a member of the Enterobacteriaceae family and exists widely in a variety of environments. It can cause human and various animal diseases including mastitis, pneumonia, urinary tract infection, wound infection and lead to bacteremia and suppurative abscess, et al. Nowadays, the bacterial tolerance to antibiotics is becoming more and more serious, and the emergence of highly virulent strains has brought considerable challenges to the prevention and control of the bacteria. Bacteriophages are a group of viruses that can infect and kill host bacteria, have attracted much attention because of their potential to treat drug-resistant bacterial infections. Cases of successfully using bacteriophages to treat drug-resistant bacterial infections have been reported all over the world. Based on the research data of K. pneumoniae and its bacteriophage at home and abroad, this paper summarizes the epidemiological investigation of K. pneumoniae and the application of bacteriophage in the treatment of this bacterial infection, in order to provide references for authors in the antibacterial research and clinical application based on bacteriophage of K. pneumoniae.
