    Abstract:

As a newly discovered secretion system, type IX secretion system (T9SS) has been found in many species of Gram-negative bacteria. T9SS is involved in the virulence, gliding motility and the degradation of complex biopolymers in bacteria. In recent years, T9SS-related research has always been a hot spot in the field of microbiology. This paper reviews the research on the discovery, components and structures, secretion mechanism and regulation of the T9SS, providing further insight into this highly novel secretion system.
