    Abstract:

Multidrug-resistant Salmonella has become a public health and economic problem worldwide. Antibiotic resistance in bacteria can be caused by gene mutation, overexpression of efflux pumps, and mobile genetic elements such as plasmids and integrons that carry genes encoding enzyme(s) that inactivates or modifies antibiotics. This review focuses on research progress related to elucidating mechanism of antibiotic resistance in Salmonella.
