In order to stimulate the interest of students in this course and associate these fundamental microbiological skills to the scientific research and practice, a novel teaching model involved in practical and interesting projects putting forward by students is proposed. The integration of these projects in the fundamental experiment course deepened the understanding of these microbiological techniques and stimulated the interest of students in this course. The criteria for the evaluation of the students include the creativity of the project, stringency of the experiment setup and comprehensiveness of the discussion. These arrangements are proved to be some meaningful explorations to accomplish the above goals and also a kind of measure to select out students who is indeed interested in microbiology.
