Abstract:Teacher education accreditation is a core measure to advance the reform of teacher education and the connotative development of teacher training in the new era. We systematically identified the gaps in the theory teaching, laboratory teaching, ideological and political education in the Microbiology course with the standards for teacher education accreditation. On this basis and following the core accreditation philosophy of student-centered, outcome-based and continuous improvement, we launched teaching reforms in four aspects: ideological and political guidance, objective reconstruction, teaching method optimization, and diversified evaluation. The results show that the excellent and good rate of the Microbiology summative assessment rose year by year from 43% to 61% for grade of 2018 to 2020. Students’ self-evaluation scores on course objective achievement improved annually, with all indirect evaluation scores above 87, indicating highly positive feedback. In addition, the actual achievement level of course objectives have exceeded the expected value of 0.7. The teacher education accreditation-oriented teaching reform of Microbiology has effectively boosted students’ academic performance, which proves that the reform has achieved positive results.
